Introducing Galveston Island 57.5" x 68.5", our latest free pattern utilizing Cosmo Cricket's Halfway Cafe Fabric. Click here to Download Galveston Island Quilt Pattern. This quilt is the companion piece to Tybee Island, our quilt pattern recently published in the Designer Quilts Summer 2008 issue. Here's a link for those trying to hunt down Cosmo Cricket's fabric; both Halfway Cafe, and Jitterbug. Also, we're trying to compile a list of stores selling these wonderful fabric lines. As soon as the list is available, we'll publish it...okay!
Something wonderful about the Halfway Cafe fabric line is that the fabric does so much of the work for you...stars, stripes, border prints. It looks like some of the blocks are string pieced, but they're not; just striped fabric cut on the diagonal. Amaze and dazzle your family and friends with this quilt that looks so complex, but is actually QUICK & SIMPLE! After showing this quilt to friends, many of them thought it would be perfect for...
Whatever you choose...it will be just right!
Enjoy!

I am so happy about the response to City Park. Because there has been so much hoorah, I have decided to make a pattern for the little City Park Bird. So feel free to use him on your quilt or a bag or an apron, and just know he came from the city

if you want to make a stuffie out of him, just double the body and wings and leave room for a seem allowance on the body. I just leave the face on one side, but you can do it down the seam if you want his eyes and beak on both sides. Let me know how it goes!

You can print and give them at your leisure, just make sure that you follow the FREE-a-BEE rules....(no selling, no copying). There are two Christmas Cards and two Hanukkah Cards. When I started creating quilting patterns, I needed a way to create them as a PDF file. I checked into Adobe - which everyone is familiar with - but it wasn't cheap. About a $100.00 per year. Looking into other options - I found one that I was really happy with, and it was much less expensive. In fact, one of the options is free. I purchased the Lite version for $19.
Here's the link to the free PDF maker...NOVA PDF
The free download is on the upper right corner of the page.
1/5/09 - The old link to Simply Quilts on HGTV isn't working any longer, but HGTV still has the instructions available, and I've updated the link.
For the I DO pattern, 3 different methods are recommended for creating the circles. My favorite method, and the one I used is the six-minute circle from Pieced Curves So Simple by Dale Fleming / C&T Publishing. I originally saw this method years ago on Simply Quilts. If anyone is interested the demonstration is available online, as well as step by step photos. Here's a link to the instructions. It may just be my dyslexic mind not clicking along as it should - but according to the instructions in the book I thought that I needed a freezer paper shape for each circular block. What I discovered was that I could use the freezer paper circles at least 4 times. For those unfamiliar with the method, it all may sound a little wack, but if you make the quilt, it will all become very clear.
have fun!
